| Relation to curriculum | Compulsory module for 3rd semester students. This course introduces statistical principles and applications in biology education and research. It supports CPL-5 (research competency) by equipping students with skills to collect, analyze, interpret, and present quantitative data. In line with ASIIN standards, the course emphasizes analytical thinking, methodological rigor, and evidence-based decision making in STEM education. |

| Module objectives / Intended Learning Outcomes | ✔ Students are able to describe basic concepts of parametric and nonparametric statistics. ✔ Students are able to understand statistical data, data collection, presentation, and descriptive measures (mean, median, mode, SD, etc.). ✔ Students are able to understand hypothesis testing (binomial, chi-square, t-test, Fisher test). ✔ Students are able to analyze data using correlation, regression, and ANOVA. |
| Content | This course discusses statistics in research, including descriptive and inferential statistics, probability theory, hypothesis testing, and data analysis tools.
Main topics: ➢ Role of statistics in research; descriptive statistics (frequency distribution, stem-leaf); inferential statistics (probability, binomial, normal distribution, chi-square, t-test, Fisher) The course also includes data analysis using Excel and SPSS. |
