Relation to curriculum Compulsory modules for 5th semester students. This course strengthens students’ competence in designing and conducting educational research in biology, supporting CPL-5 (scientific publication) and CPL-3 (problem-solving). Students are guided through research methodology, problem formulation, data collection, and analysis techniques, and are expected to produce a mini-thesis or research proposal relevant to biology education.
Teaching methods Discussion, lecture, PBL
Workload 2 x 45 hours per semester, comprising:
✔ 100 minutes lecture and discussion per week
✔ 120 minutes structured tasks per week
✔ 120 minutes independent learning per week
Credit points 2 SKS = 3.34 ECTS (90 hours)
Prerequisites
Module objectives ✔ Explain concepts of research in biology education, including objectives, characteristics, and approaches (qualitative and quantitative)
✔ Analyze research problems, variables, literature sources, and citation techniques
✔ Formulate and test hypotheses, and understand sampling techniques, instruments, and measurement scales
✔ Design and implement experimental and action research, including data analysis and proposal writing
Content This course covers research methodology in biology education.
