Praktikum Genetika
| Module title | SBEP3052 Genetics Laboratory |
| Semester(s) | 6th Semester |
| Person responsible | Dewi Andayani, S.Pd., M.Pd. |
| Language | Indonesian, English |
| Relation to curriculum | Compulsory modules for 6th semester students. This laboratory course complements the Genetics lecture by providing practical experience in the study of heredity and genetic variation. It supports CPL-6 and CPL-7 through laboratory activities such as genetic crosses, phenotype observation, probability analysis, and basic DNA-related techniques. These practical experiences enable future educators to effectively demonstrate genetic principles in classroom settings and foster critical inquiry through observation, prediction, and problem-solving based on real biological phenomena. |
| Teaching methods | Hands-on (laboratory), group discussion |
| Workload | 1 x 45 hours per semester, comprising:
✔ 170 minutes structured tasks per week |
| Credit points | 1 SKS = 1.6 ECTS (45 hours) |
| Prerequisites | – |
| Module objectives / Intended Learning Outcomes | ✔ Students are able to observe chromosomes during mitosis and meiosis using prepared slides and plant root sections, conduct genetic cross experiments based on Mendel’s laws, and identify genetic variation in humans while applying laboratory safety procedures and environmental awareness. ✔ Students are able to handle experimental organisms, observe morphology, identify Drosophila melanogaster, prepare |
| Content | This course develops students’ practical skills in genetics through laboratory activities involving observation, experimentation, and analysis. Students learn to handle biological specimens, conduct experiments, and interpret genetic data. The main topics of this course are: |
| Exams and assessment formats | Quiz, observation sheet, weekly report |
| Study and examination requirements | ✔ Assignment: 26% ✔ Quiz: 10% ✔ Exam 1: 34% ✔ Exam 2: 30% |
