Relation to curriculum Compulsory module for 6th semester students. This laboratory course complements Plant Ecology by focusing on
plant–environment interactions through direct field and laboratory activities. It builds on prior knowledge in
Botany and Morphology and supports students’ ecological field competencies (CPL 4 and CPL 6).
The course emphasizes hands-on data collection, observation, and vegetation analysis, enabling students to interpret
ecological patterns and processes. It strengthens research skills and prepares students for advanced ecological studies
and environmental problem-solving.
Teaching methods Hands-on (laboratory)
Workload 1 x 45 hours per semester, comprising:

✔ 170 minutes structured tasks per week

Credit points 1 SKS = 1.6 ECTS (45 hours)
Prerequisites
Module objectives / Intended Learning Outcomes ✔ Students are able to identify plant species, their structures, functions, and ecological adaptations through practical observation.
✔ Students are able to analyze ecological interactions such as intra- and interspecific competition and allelopathy.
✔ Students are able to apply vegetation sampling techniques and interpret ecological data accurately.
✔ Students are able to implement laboratory safety procedures and actively participate in scientific discussions.

➢ Vegetation analysis using the quadrat method
