Relation to curriculum Compulsory modules for 5th semester students. This laboratory course provides practical reinforcement to the theoretical foundations covered in Microbiology. It supports CPL-6 and CPL-7 by engaging students in techniques such as microbial staining, culture preparation, aseptic technique, and microbial observation under a microscope. In line with ASIIN’s focus on professional and scientific competencies, the course cultivates students’ technical accuracy, hygiene discipline, and analytical thinking. It also strengthens students’ understanding of microbial diversity, structure, and roles in ecosystems and human contexts.

Workload 1 x 45 hours per semester, comprising:
✔ 170 minutes structured tasks per week
Credit points 1 SKS = 1.6 ECTS (45 hours)
Prerequisites
Module objectives ✔ Students are able to operate microbiological equipment, prepare media, sterilize tools and materials, and perform cultivation and purification techniques.
✔ Students are able to design and conduct laboratory activities and prepare reports on MPN tests, microbial analysis, staining techniques, and fermentation processes.
Content This course is conducted through laboratory activities focusing on microbiological techniques.

➢ Sterilization techniques
➢ Cultivation, enumeration, and purification of microbial isolates
➢ MPN method for coliform detection
➢ Examination of soil and airborne microorganisms
➢ Bacterial staining techniques
➢ Observation of fungal and yeast morphology
➢ Fermentation techniques using fruit juice
➢ Enzymatic reactions of microorganisms
