Relation to curriculum Elective modules for 6th semester students. This course focuses on the integration of Science, Technology, Engineering,
and Mathematics (STEM) in biology education. It supports students in developing innovative teaching strategies,
problem-solving skills, and interdisciplinary understanding aligned with research and innovation interests.
Teaching methods Problem-Based Learning (PBL), blended learning, Student-Centered Learning (SCL), group discussion,
designing biology lesson plans (RPP and LKPD), and developing hands-on learning media
Workload 2 x 45 hours per semester, comprising:

✔ 100 minutes lecture and discussion per week
✔ 120 minutes structured tasks per week
✔ 120 minutes independent learning per week

Credit points 2 SKS = 3.34 ECTS (90 hours)
Prerequisites
Module objectives / Intended Learning Outcomes ✔ Students are able to explain the concept of STEM, its history, components, and engineering design processes accurately.
✔ Students are able to apply STEM principles in solving biological problems using life-skill-oriented approaches.
✔ Students are able to design biology lesson plans (RPP and LKPD) integrated with STEM concepts.
✔ Students are able to analyze classroom needs and develop environmentally friendly STEM-based learning media.
Content This course introduces the concept and implementation of STEM education in biology learning, including:

➢ Foundations of STEM Education
➢ Contextual Applications of STEM
➢ Engineering Design and Production Cycle
➢ STEM Pedagogy and Instructional Approaches
➢ Curriculum Development and Design
➢ Innovation and Product Development

The course also enhances students’ soft skills such as critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving.
